On Friday, February 18th at 6pm, join us for Bread and Circus – The Calzone Edition
Our virtual performance fundraiser and cooking class is back by popular demand!
Learn to bake an Italian Calzone with the amazing chefs at Get Cooking, and while the yeast is rising and the bread is baking, you will be dazzled and entertained by amazing performers and music. This unique fundraiser will feature world-class Albertan circus artists, dancers and musicians. Tickets are $100.00 per household and include a complete calzone making kit delivered right to your door! New for this year, you can purchase a ticket that includes the performance, cooking class, and recipe card only, so if you want to make substitutions to any ingredients, you will have the option to do so. Either way, we will deliver your 2.5 hour evening of entertainment and cooking class right to your screen (your link will be sent closer to the event).
New for the 2022 Bread and Circus edition, all of our performances will take place live at Production World and broadcast directly to your screen. As you become your own home chef, prepare to be enchanted by Caitlin Mader (Corde Lisse), Kate Ryan (Hula Hoops), Jay Flair (Magic), Stephanie Gruson (Aerial Silks), and VIVA Dance. Our musicians include a devious duo of Jason Kodie and Franco Bessai. The evening is hosted by Firefly’s Co-Founders Annie Dugan and John Ullyatt – John will be attempting the recipe at home with all of you! This interactive and delicious fundraiser will be on screen for one night only.
Bread and Circus, a phrase attributed to the Ancient Roman poet Juvenal, means ‘superficial appeasement.’
As we head deeper into the winter of 2022, we the people, are itching to gather. We want to be together; to dine, to drink, to laugh. And yet we can’t. The unrest will undoubtedly brew. What to do? Give the people bread and circus! Literally.
